Call for Candidacies: ICOM Europe Directory Board Election 2025–2028 - ICOM EUROPE

Dear Chairs of the European National Committees,

Attached you will find the official template and rules for submitting candidacies for the positions of Chair and members of the ICOM Europe Directory Board.

Important: The deadline for submitting candidacies is September 12th, 2025 (23:59 Paris time). Please use the attached template and complete all sections. Each candidacy must be approved and signed by the Chair of the respective National Committee.

Election Procedure

The election of the ICOM Europe Directory Board is governed by the ICOM Statutes, Internal Rules, and the internal rules of the ICOM Europe Regional Alliance (see Attachments 1 and 2). Candidates who are elected agree to fully commit to their duties and responsibilities as outlined in these governing documents for the entire term, while adhering to standards of good conduct and governance.

Submission Guidelines

Complete the candidacy template and submit it by September 12, 2025, 23:59 (Paris time) to:

Additionally, please send a personal statement (maximum 250 words) and a recent photograph by email to:
chair.icomeurope@gmail.com
The list of candidates and details on the election procedure will be published on the ICOM Europe website and communicated via email to all members by September 15, 2025.
By submitting their photo and statement, candidates give ICOM Europe permission to publish these materials on the website for the duration of the election period, through November 12, 2025.

Important Notes

Incomplete or late submissions will NOT be accepted.
Last-minute candidacies during the ICOM Europe Plenary meeting on November 12, 2025, will NOT be accepted.
The electronic voting platform will open on November 3, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. (Paris time) and close on November 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
Only voting members of ICOM Europe (Chairs of European National Committees or their officially designated delegates) as of the opening of the voting platform will be eligible to vote.
Current Board members seeking a second term must submit their candidacy and participate in the election process.

Candidate Profile

Due to the active role of the Directory Board in shaping ICOM Europe’s policies, projects, and governance, candidates are encouraged to:

Have at least 5 years of active membership in ICOM.
Have the support of their employer or other means to dedicate sufficient time and resources for travel and board responsibilities.
Be fluent in English with strong communication skills.
Be willing and able to travel internationally to attend board meetings and the ICOM General Conference in person.
Commit to attending and contributing actively to the smooth running of plenary meetings.

Please note that ICOM Europe may not provide financial support for travel and lodging expenses related to Directory Board meetings, which are usually held once a year in different countries.

Detailed responsibilities of Directory Board members can be found in the attached Rules and Duties document (Attachment 2). Board members share the workload and engage in various projects throughout their term.
