ICOM Europe Board 2025–2028 Election, Network
Introducing the New Leadership and Strategic Priorities
ICOM Europe is pleased to present the newly elected Directory Board for the 2025–2028 term. Elected by the Chairs of European National Committees through a transparent electronic voting process and confirmed at the ICOM Europe General Assembly held during the ICOM General Conference in Dubai, the new Board brings together experienced museum professionals from across Europe.

Building on the work of previous mandates, the Board is committed to strengthening cooperation among European National Committees, reinforcing the role of regional alliances within ICOM, and supporting museums in addressing the cultural, social, ethical, and environmental challenges of our time.
A Shared Vision for ICOM Europe
For the 2025–2028 term, the ICOM Europe Board has identified several strategic priorities that will guide its work:

Clarifying the mandate and added value of ICOM Europe as a platform for cooperation, exchange, and coordinated action among European National Committees

Deepening knowledge of the European museum sector, its diversity, specificities, and professional realities, to better inform joint priorities and advocacy

Strengthening the role of Regional Alliances within ICOM governance, while promoting recognition of Europe’s cultural and institutional diversity

Engaging actively with key sector-wide issues, including ethics, sustainability, professional responsibility, digital transformation, and institutional resilience

Preparing collaboratively for the 2028 ICOM General Conference in Europe, to be held in Rotterdam, under the theme “Building Bridges. Connecting Worlds, Cultures and Generations”
The Board intends to work in close dialogue with European National Committees, encouraging shared initiatives, regular consultation, and collective ownership of priorities.
The ICOM Europe Directory Board 2025–2028
Chair – Juliette Raoul-Duval (France)
An ICOM member for over 26 years, Juliette Raoul-Duval has served as Chair of ICOM France, Vice-Chair of CIMUSET, and member of SAREC and DEFINE. She was Vice-Chair of ICOM Europe from 2022 to 2025.
As Chair, she is committed to fostering a responsible, democratic, and collaborative European network, positioning museums as trusted social institutions and strengthening ICOM Europe’s coherence, visibility, and impact.
Vice-Chair – Lana Karaia (Georgia)
Chair of ICOM Georgia and former Board Member of ICOM Europe (2022–2025), Lana Karaia has focused her work on capacity building, inclusivity, and cross-border cooperation.
As Vice-Chair, she is dedicated to reinforcing dialogue among National Committees, supporting emerging professionals, and promoting ethical, collaborative museum practices across Europe.
2nd Vice-Chair – Mário Antas (Portugal)
Mário Antas previously served on the ICOM Europe Board (2022–2025) and is Advisor to the Board of the National Museum of Ancient Art in Portugal. His professional background includes museum education, international collaboration, and academic training.
He brings a focus on professional exchange, and strengthening ICOM Europe’s role as a space for dialogue and learning.
Secretary – Teti Hadjinicolaou (Greece)
An Honorary Director of Modern Heritage at the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and a founding member of ICOM Greece, Teti Hadjinicolaou has more than four decades of experience in museology and cultural heritage.
As Secretary, she contributes deep institutional knowledge, continuity, and expertise in international cooperation and governance.
Treasurer – Alexandre Chevalier (Belgium)
Alexandre Chevalier served as Treasurer of ICOM Europe during the previous term and is Vice-Chair of ICOM Belgium. His experience combines museum leadership with financial governance.
In his continued role, he focuses on transparency, sustainable financial management, and strengthening coordination among European National Committees.
Board Member – Felicia Sternfeld (Germany)
Chair of ICOM Germany and Director of the European Hansemuseum, Felicia Sternfeld has led organizational reforms and promoted international cooperation.
Her priorities include sustainability, decolonization, and reinforcing Europe’s contribution to global museum discourse.
Board Member – Michele Lanzinger (Italy)
Chair of ICOM Italy, Michele Lanzinger brings decades of leadership experience in Italian and European museums.
He advocates for enhanced cooperation among National Committees and stronger engagement of museums in European cultural and research initiatives.
Board Member – Zsolt Sári (Hungary)
Deputy Director-General of the Hungarian Open Air Museum and former Chair of ICOM Hungary, Zsolt Sári focuses on museum management, digital transformation, and institutional resilience.
He sees ICOM Europe as a platform for open dialogue and collective responses to shared challenges, including ethics renewal and sustainability.
Working Together
The ICOM Europe Board 2025–2028 warmly invites European National Committees to engage actively in shaping shared priorities, proposing initiatives, and strengthening collaboration across the region. Through regular exchanges, joint projects, and transparent governance, the Board aims to support a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-looking European museum community.
